VP, Rights Management

We are seeking a VP, Rights Management to join Radial Entertainment. The VP, Rights Management will play a critical role in leading the implementation and long-term ownership of the company’s consolidated Rights Management System (Rightsline), a strategic, high-visibility initiative supporting content acquisitions, business affairs, operations, sales, and finance. This role will serve as Radial’s internal owner and decision-maker for the rights management program, partnering closely with executive leadership, external implementation partners, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery, system integrity, and long-term scalability. The ideal candidate combines deep rights management expertise with strong program leadership and the ability to drive complex system implementations in a fast-paced, private equity-backed environment.

Department: Business Affairs (TBD)
Reports to: COO (or Executive Leadership Team until COO onboarded)
Exemption Status: Exempt
Pay Rate: $180k – $220k DOE
Paid Time Off: Holidays, Paid Sick Leave
Compensation: Full benefits package (for employee option) or 1099 engagement available
Work Location: Hybrid (Preferred Los Angeles)
Duration: 12 months with potential path to permanent

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Radial’s primary representative and accountable owner across the full program, with a core focus on ensuring the accuracy and integrity of Rights In and Rights Out inputs within the rights management system.

  • This role underpins all downstream functions, enabling Sales, Operations, and other teams to execute effectively.

  • Act as the central point of accountability for the external implementation team while being directly responsible to Radial leadership for delivery and outcomes.

  • Direct and manage the external program team day-to-day: drive the workplan, hold milestones, surface risks early, and escalate decisively when needed

  • Own all business-side sign-offs: process flows, functional requirements, UAT scripts, test results, and final data reconciliation before go-live

  • Serve as Radial’s subject matter authority: translating business needs (rights logic, contract structures, collision requirements, avails workflows) into clear, actionable direction for the external team and Rightsline

  • Coordinate Radial’s internal SMEs across Sales, Operations, Finance, Legal, and IT: ensuring their participation, input, and timely sign-off at each phase

  • Lead SteerCo alignment with the COO and General Counsel: weekly status, risk logs, key decisions, and escalation management

  • Coordinate critical data migration decisions: advise on source data extractions across three legacy systems, validating transformation logic, and approving reconciliation outputs before cutover

  • Validate that change management and training reflect how teams actually work: ensure that the business is genuinely ready to adopt the system before go-live

  • Drive a clean handoff at program completion: full documentation, operational runbooks, and a long-term ownership model in place, ideally with you as that owner

Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in rights management positions in licensing-based industries

  • Meaningful hands-on experience with Rightsline or a comparable enterprise RMS (MoltenCloud, iRights, or similar): deep enough to hold your own with experienced external implementation consultants and Rightsline PS on configuration and design decisions

  • Familiarity with rights-in/rights-out workflows, window management, collision detection, avails generation, and waterfall structures is highly valued

  • A track record of owning the client side of a complex technology or systems implementation: someone who has been the accountable business owner, not just a participant

  • Strong enough business acumen to translate rights and contract complexity into clear direction, and enough PM instinct to keep a multi-workstream program on track across multiple organizations simultaneously

  • Experience managing and directing third-party consulting teams: setting expectations, holding them accountable, and knowing when to push back

  • Cross-functional credibility: comfortable representing Radial’s interests authoritatively to Sales, Operations, Finance, Legal, and IT at the same time

  • Post-merger or multi-system consolidation experience is a strong differentiator: especially migrating data from multiple legacy platforms into a unified source of truth

  • Self-starter: you identify the next problem before you’re told about it, and you move to execute, willing to roll up your sleeves

  • Ambition to grow with the company: ideally, you want to own rights management at Radial long after the implementation is complete

  • Entertainment law background or contract documentation fluency is a meaningful differentiator
